Vaccine Information

There is no vaccine to prevent HIV infection, and once infected, an individual cannot be cured of HIV. However, there are powerful strategies to prevent becoming infected with HIV such as pre-exposure prophylaxix, or PrEP. PrEP treatment consists of a single daily pill (brand name Truvada) recommended for those at higher risk for HIV infection. When taken consistently, and coupled with condom use and other prevention methods, PrEP can decrease the risk of HIV infection by up to 92%.
