HIV Cases Newly Diagnosed in North Dakota by Stage of Disease at Diagnosis


This graph represents the total number of new cases of HIV diagnosed among North Dakota residents by Stage of Disease at Diagnosis. The Stage of Disease at Diagnosis shows whether or not a person was diagnosed with an HIV infection only or at the stage of AIDS. By diagnosing infections earlier, people are shown to have better outcomes when linked early to antiretroviral therapy. Often a person’s immune system improves after starting therapy when diagnosed with HIV or AIDS. However once at the stage of AIDS, a person’s overall health never truly returns to normal even once therapy is started.
