Injury is a leading cause of death in the United States and continues to increase in occurances every day. The problem with injury is that it has a profound effect on individuals, families, hospitals, and society at large because it causes tremendous medical, psychosocial, and financial burdens. The need for a comprehensive injury response strategy is clear and is consistent with trauma system developments.
