The Healthy Weight Program assists communities, schools, worksites and other program partners in creating and sustaining environments that support lifelong healthy eating and physical activity. The program provides training and technical assistance to partners at the state and local level, including the Maternal and Child Health program, the Coordinated School Health program and Healthy North Dakota partners. The Healthy Weight Coordinator is the Health
Department Liaison for the Healthy North Dakota Physical Activity
Committee, one committee of Healthy North Dakota, and also coordinates
activities of the National Fruit and Vegetable Alliance Program for The community-based healthy eating and physical activity coalitions (currently “5 + 5 Communities”) program is coordinated by the Healthy Weight Program. This includes seeking funding opportunities, training coalition members and providing technical assistance. The Healthy Weight Program is working with public and private partners to develop a comprehensive state plan for healthy eating and physical activity. This will provide a framework for working together to build and support environments that make it easier for North Dakota residents to choose healthy foods and be physically active. |
