Mission: The Division of Injury Prevention and Control is dedicated to reducing the frequency and severity of intentional and unintentional injuries to North Dakotans. Vision: The North Dakota Department of Health's Division of Injury Prevention and Control seeks to become the resource for it's partners, stakeholders, and the general public by:
Action: The Division of Injury Prevention and Control will accomplish it's mission through policy development, data surveillance, public awareness, professional trainings, administering federal and state programs, advocacy and partnering with others in injury prevention/intervention initiatives and data resources. Programs within the division include: Injury/Violence Prevention Program: The overall goal of this program is to reduce both unintentional and intentional injuries to North Dakotans, with special emphasis on children and women. The program uses a variety of best practice strategies, including primary prevention theories, data collection and analysis, designing and developing interventions, training and technical assistance, policy advocacy, and evaluation. Publication/Resource Topics:
Child Passenger Safety Program: The goal of the child passenger safety program is to decrease injuries and death to children due to motor vehicle crash events. The program uses a variety of best practice strategies, including data collection and analysis, design and development of initiatives, training and technical assistance, policy and advocacy, and evaluation. Domestic Violence/Rape Crisis Program: The overall goal is to reduce domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking crimes in North Dakota.
Suicide Prevention Program: The overall goal of the Suicide Prevention program is to reduce the number of attempted and completed suicides.
