Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems
Grant
In 2003, the North Dakota Department of Health received an Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems (ECCS) Grant from the federal Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to strengthen North Dakota's early childhood system. The ECCS grant helps states establish and implement collaborations and partnerships that support families and communities as they, in turn, support the healthy development and school readiness of young children. Phase one, which began in 2003, involved project planning. Phase two, project implementation, began in March 2006. ECCS funding afforded North Dakota the opportunity to engage in the strategic planning and partnership building required to develop a comprehensive early childhood system.
