The liver, the largest internal organ in the body, is located behind the lower right part of your ribs.  The liver serves as the body's filter and warehouse.

The liver also:

• Stores vitamins, sugars, fats and other nutrients from the food that we eat

• Builds proteins and nutrients that the body needs to stay healthy

• Breaks down food, medications, alcohol and poisonous chemicals

• Filters waste products from the blood

• Regulates blood clotting
