AFM Surveillance.
In response to recent national clusters of Acute Flaccid Myelitis (AFM) in children, The North Dakota Department of Health (NDDoH) has asked
healthcare providers to report any potential cases of AFM to the NDDoH. The NDDoH works with the Centers for Disease Control
and Prevention (CDC) to identify and investigate cases meeting the case definition for AFM in an effort to understand why we appear to be seeing an increase in these patients.
Clinicians should view the Memo to Clinicians and
CDC Job Aid for Clinicans for more information on identifying and reporting cases.
