Ground Water Protection Programs
The North Dakota Ground Water Protection Program focuses its efforts on preventing
contamination of ground water through programs designed to control potential sources of
contamination. We also work towards restoration of ground water that has been
polluted. Ground water is an extremely important resource in North Dakota.
A large portion of the
rural population and many municipalities rely entirely on ground water as
a drinking water source. This makes the effort to prevent ground water contamination all the more important.
