About Hepatitis
Hepatitis A is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis A virus.
Hepatitis B is a viral infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis B virus.
Hepatitis C is a viral infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis C can lead to lifelong (chronic) infection and can cause serious liver damage including cirrhosis and liver cancer.
Hepatitis D is a liver infection caused by the hepatitis D virus virion.
Hepatitis E is an infection of the liver caused by the hepatitis E virus. It is not common in the United States. Hepatitis E typically causes an acute illness.
