Multidisciplinary Clinic Program

The Multidisciplinary Clinic Program is a resource to help families manage their child's chronic health condition. Most clinics supported by Children's Special Health Services (CSHS) provide multidisciplinary team evaluations where families have an opportunity to see many different providers in one place at one time. Reports generated from the clinic visit include recommendations to help direct care for the coming year. There is no charge to families for clinic services; however, insurance or others sources of health care coverage may be used when available. All children who might benefit are eligible to attend.

Clinics make a positive difference in children's overall care. Families' report that clinics provide:

  • Information, education, and reassurance
  • Diagnostic evaluation and/or treatment
  • Coordinated, comprehensive care
  • Follow-up and monitoring
  • Access to specialty medical care

Ten different types of clinics are supported by Children's Special Health Services. Some are managed by CSHS in partnership with public and private health care providers across the state (see provider section for current listing). Others are funded through service contracts. Types of clinics supported by CSHS include:

  • Cleft Lip/Palate
  • Cardiac Care for Children Program
  • Metabolic Disorders
  • Cerebral Palsy/Child Disability
  • Developmental Assessment
  • Myelodysplasia
  • Diabetes
  • Neurorehabilitation
  • Asthma
  • Autism

Updates/Changes to the 2013 Clinic Directory:
- On Saturday, April 20th, from 8 AM – 1 PM, Shriners Hospitals for Children chief of staff and pediatric orthopaedic surgeon, Cary Mielke, MD, will be at Bone & Joint Center in Bismarck providing free evaluations for children who may be able to benefit from expert orthopaedic medical care (treating conditions of the bones, muscles, and joints). Please call toll free at 1-888-293-2832 (ask for extension 6105) today to schedule an appointment.
